Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1998 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 4.0 liter 4wheel drive explorer, I am wanting to put the 5.0 liter engine in it. Besides the computer and wires what would I have to change? Transmission, transfer case? Would it be easier to buy a v8 2wd explorer and put the four wheel drive setup in it?

We recommend direct replacement parts. This change will include more than the wiring. Vacuum harness, computer, motor mounts, (you will have to check if the trans will bolt). As far as the 2wd change over, it's not worth the effort.

I don't mean to discourage you, but you are looking at a lot of work that most likely will give you nothing but headachs.
