1997 Ford Explorer rear disc brakes

rear disc brakes are hardly if at all working.The abs is also activating at most every stop.

How do you know they are not working? Also, is the abs light on? Many times the sensors at the wheels can go bad or get dirty and not have a good connection.

Let me know if the light is on.
