My Explorer blows my #2 fuse upon start up ( as soon as the ignition is turned). The first time if blew, i replaced the fuse and the car ran for about 3 weeks. No the car won't turn over at all with the new fuse and blows that fuse when the ignition is turned. My mechanic is having a hard time figuring out how to trace the problem. Just a few days before the car started blew the fuse when starting the check engine light came on. Any assistance would be helpful.

Is this fuse in the power distribution block under the hood? If so then there is 2 number 2 fuses so is it the 15 amp one or the 30 amp one. It sounds like you have an ignition coil that is shorted I would replace it and try it again. Here is the fuse panel diagrams to help you see whats going on.

here is a video of the coil being replaced on a similar car.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Yes the fuse that is blowing is in the box located under the hood. So I replaced the ignition coil and the problem has not happened again. I love this site!
