Transmission problem
1996 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic
the tranny that goes in my 96 explorer is a 4R55E. I have a 5R55E that i bought thinking it would work for my 96. I read that the difference between these 2 trannys is the electronics. Can i take my electronics off my tranny in the 96 tranny and put them on the 5R55E and put it in my car or will this not work. I bought the 5R55E thinking it was a 4R55E. I'm trying to make this one work without having to sell it to buy the right one. Is this possible to do? I know i will lose the 5 th gear option but thats of no concern unless that is the exact reason why this swap won't work. thanks
