i've priced fuel pumps ,mid range is 150.00 . mech said 300.00 &change for fuel pump. MY question is how do i change it my self. I'm mechanicaly inclinde and I follow repair mannuals well.

You need to drain the tank. Wrestling the tank up and down can be time consuming, it is for me. I haven't dropped a tank on your year and model, I have others. The actual act of replacing the pump itself, is the easy part. Sometimes the fuel tube doesn't want to cooperate and I use a brass or copper drift on a metal locking ring. You can do it yourself, be safe.
