1996 Ford Explorer How can i change the feul pump

The fuel pump is in the gas tank! unplug the connector, turn the key to on, and test the wires for voltage...check your fuses in the car and under the hood, and the fuel pump relay, also under the hood in the power distrbution box...

Oke the plugg is that the one near the fuel filter
there is a big bundel of wires.
can you help me with a foto or manuel to get the good fuel pump relay.
i have the manuel of the fuses
but don't have a manuel from the relais box.
The fuses are good i tested them
The told me te pump is defect
hope you can help me more .

#12 fuse in the power distribution box is the fuel pump fuse 20 amp....so is the fuel pump relay I don't have a diagram but it's on the right fender apron under the hood, have some one turn the key to on and listen for the click of the relay...you need to turn the key off for a minute or two between tries...the owners manual should have the legend of this box in it!

Jump the pump test pin to the single wire connector that is with this connector, usually mounted on the left fender, this will test the pump circuit...

Oke thanks i wil try that out tomorrow. it is strange , but from one on a other day or moment the motor won't start . every one said that the fuel pump is jamed or defect . I will try your information first. and i like to fix the problem ,. it's putting me to a big Question.. normaly you find the pump in 2 ore 3 minutes but by this car i think that you need to remove the tank . its a big ........... work the tank is full . hope that i may write my results tomorrow. Oke the fuse is oke
the relai makes a kliking sound
but stil no ................ engine sound.
he won't start
i am very ..... thinking it is the fuel pump
how do i get that thing out the gas tank
does any one had the same problem , to give me some hints to remove the pump.

Hello , there This weekend we dismouted the fuel tank. it not zo easy , lots of wires. The fuel pump is the problem, it is jammed. Thanks for the information. Now i need to buy a new one and the problem is over i hope. but it is verry dum ore the way the fuel pump is installed, it.s on a verry dificult place. Those diodes make sure power flows one way only, test with continuity tester, should only work in one direction. First, drop the gas tank, unplug the connections, use a spanner wrench to remove the lock ring, or a hammer and BRASS punch. Pull out the old pump, dissconnect the wires, noting where the go, install new pump...reinstal lock ring, plug in the connector, install the tank! Try to remove all but about 1 gallon of gas, or the tank will be HEAVY!
