Hi,I have a 1996 ford explorer that ran find the last time we drove it on a regular basis. I had replaced all rotors and brakes less than 4500 miles ago.It has been sitting in the drive way since May 2009. Last week I took it for a run and found that when I press the brakes they work fine but just before the car comes to a full stop the antilock brake motor runs. It does not always do this but most of the time it does. It seems that if I press the brake hard for a fast stop it will work fine with out the antilock motor running. Now I am asuming that it is the antilock brake motor running but I think it is it. I ckecked all the brakes again and the electrical connections for the ABS. What could be causing this?

Have you had the computer scanned for codes? Chances are you have a bad wheel sensor, or one if them is dirty and don't work properly.
