1996 Ford Explorer 4 Wheel Drive Switch

1996 Ford Explorer 4X4 6cyl.
136,000 miles
Automatic Trans.

I can't seem to get the truck to shift into 4 Wheel high, the indicator light doesn't come on either.
But when I shift it into 4 wheel low, it works along with the indicator light.

Does anyone have any ideas, or know the common problems with this model explorer?

do you have automatic locking hubs?

Yes they are automatic hubs.

Like I say 4 wheel low locks in, and the indicator light works for 4 low as well.

It is 4 wheel high that has issues, the indicator light doesn't turn on and it doesn't seem to be engaging the 4 wheel high when selecting 4 wheel high on the dash switch.

the switch could be bad or the automatic hubs are more then likely the problem.
