1995 Ford Explorer vibration above 65 mph

Things that come to mind for me on these are the rear differentials, If you can get it off the ground and run it, it may help to expose the problem. OTher things I have seen are driveshafts that are out of balance. It may help to pull that front shaft and drive it and see if there is a change. I have heard of transfer case units be a problem, but haven't experienced them personally.

Also check the webbing on the center bearing if it is saggy it can cause the vibration, .

change the oil in the transfer case. very inexpensive. i just had one that vibrated awful at 65 and the oil in the transfer case was like water. changed the fluid and vibration is gone. try this then let us know.

Just had the same problem, new front drivshaft in a *96, changed front diff fluid, vibration gone! Good call mastertechtim!!!!

Changed the transfer case fuild this morning and it made no difference. It was down a little and original fluid I believe.
Had friend who is a good backyarder mech. test drive it today......He does not think it is in the power train and thinks it is coming from the front end, maybe a wheel bearing.
Can a front wheel bearing "act up" in this manner for 5 months?
I replaced one front bearing assembly 3 years ago. They are part of the anti-lock sensors system.
My anti- lock thing on the other side has been bad for a year or so but I have just been living with the brake pulsing when I stop. Just was trying to save the $350 my mech. would charge.

I have not had a vibration from a wheel bearing without having play felt at that wheel assy. Before you replaced the tires, were they all the same? That is were some more severly worn than others? If the sizes are different such as two of one brand and two of another with large wear differences, this can casue an internal problem in the transfer case. Again I would run this thing up in the air and stop one wheel and then the other while up to see if there is a difference of the vibraton can be experienced.

All tires were exactly the same, brand, wear, weather cracks, etc. I rotate so they lasted very well but they were very thin and had dry rot from age in the sun.
It is going into my mechanic this thursday. I am wondering if maybe it is the u- joints.....I pryed and pulled them every way possible but I did not take them apart. Maybe I should have checked for a dry cup???
Never run a vehicle with one wheel blocked and would rather not at this point. Running out of time and mechanics have to eat too....
