1994 Ford Explorer hubs

my explorer has automatic hubs according to the diagrams there are 4 parts before the cam assembly. the snap ring and axle shaft spacer are there , but the needle thrust bearing and bearing spacer are missing . would this keep the hubs from locking in? The front and rear drive shafts lock in but not the front axles .

Yes, itis possible.The spacing has to be correct in the hub for it to be able to lock and unlock.I included a pic of the entire assembly.There cant be any leftover parts after it has been assembled

The diagram u sent only shows 2 parts before the cam assembly , the axle shaft spacer and the snap ring , which means mine are assembled correctly . What could be causing my front axles not to lock in. The front and rear drive shafts lock in to the transfer case fine .

Maybe the hubs are bad.do the inner axles turn when you put it in 4wd?

Yes the axles turn from the hub to he front differential .

If the hubs are assembled accoding to thediagram, and the front diff is engaged, sounds like the hubs

The front drive shaft is engaged to the transfer case but the left and right axles turn freely when the 4wd is engaged. Will auto hub repair kit F3TZ1K106A fix the hubs? are they even rebuildable?

Depends on what is in the kit, the cam assembly is what does most of the work.Have you tried manipulating the cam assembly then assembling the hub so that it is engaged , then see if it backs off when wheel is spun backwards?

No , I havent tried manipulating the hubs so they are engaged , Im not familiar with how they work so i dont know if I turn them or push them in to engage the axles? I guess i can mess with it and see what I can do , something is better than doing nothing .
