I own a 1994 ford explorer. It has auto locking hubs. Can the hubs be replaced with manual locking hubs from the same type of vehicle. I'm hoping. I am wondering if I will have to manually lock them in from outside the vehicle then push the button inside on the dash?

thank you

Yes they can be replaced with manual locking hubs. And yes, you will need to lock them in then push the 4x4 button.

I'm changing the rotor out on the front driver side. I can't get the axle out far enough to get the spacer washer back on. The passenger side went well with no problems. I've pried and pulled with no results. I only need about 2mm more. The axle has no internal threads so I can't use a slide hammer. I'm at a loss and I need the car tomorrow.

The factor auto hubs were a lot of trouble. chances are the gears in them are worn and slipping. If they need replaced, I recommend getting manual locking ones.
