1992 Ford Explorer air by pass valve

I replaced my air throttle control valve. Now hen I start my car it idles way up. It idn't do that before. What do I need to do to get my throttle back to normal ? And what happens if I hold the possitive and negative cables together. I'm told it will reset the computer. Is this what I need to do for the air valve.

Has the check engine light come on? As far as tje battery terminal, I never heard of it.

If the light is on have it scanned and let me know what the code is.

there is no check engine light on. I was told that putting the two battery for 10 min. will reset the computer. you haven't heard of that?

Do you mean disconnecting the battery for 10 min? It may reset it but if it is a hard code, it won't. However, you mentioned that the check engine light isn't on so try disconnecting the battery for aprox 10 minutes. There is no need to hold the terminals together. Once the battery is disconnected, there is no power there.

Ok Great I'll disconnect the battery for 10 min. Then what do I do next ? Do I have to start the car and floor and release the foot pedal to reset the primeters ?

No, just disconnecting the battery for that long should reset any soft codes.
