When I crank my Explorer a large cloud of gas fumes fills the air. So Embarassing! The exhaust smells of pure gas. What has happened? Was doing fine, running good then I've turned into a crop duster.

possible leaky injectors,but u didn't mention if u experience extensive cranking for starting..that might be the clue for ur answer ..if not then it lie around the area of temp sensors or throttle position sensor from ur start up mode ....
