2005 Ford Expedition is it OK to leave the button ON ?

I have always told my customers that it should be shut before the engine and not turned on until a few seconds after starting the engine. It puts a large draw on both the engine and the electrical system that can cause hard starting and electrical issues. That is my opinion. I have been working on cars for nearly 30 years. There will be others that say it doesn't matter.
