Hey Cabindaritmo,

from the book:

Note: The air distribution system of this vehicle cannot be equipped with a cabin air filter.

Cabin air filter is available as an optional dealer-installed kit. Cabin air filter installation instructions are included with the kit. If a filter is already installed, it is located under the right side of the instrument panel in the HVAC housing. Trim panel may have to be removed to gain access to filter

Remove attaching screws for the cover and pull the tabs on the filter out. Put it back in making sure the tabs face the filter cover. Reassemble and you're done. All expeditions don't have cabin air filter. It should say filter on the cover.

Here is a guide that may help you see what you are in for when replacement the cabin air filter:

Please let us know happens so it will help others.

Best, Ken

Ken, how do you know if you have the optional dealer kit? I have the 2003 Expedition was not from a dealer, and I do no know if I have a filter to replace or not,
Let alone how to gain access to that.
I took a look the other day, it is so tight and some screws hard to get to.
The reason I was looking around down there, is my fan makes noise when I have the AC on and hit rough road or a hole etc., on the road. It makes a loud noise then It goes away. I wanted to open and see if there are some loose screws holding that fan, but it seems a tough job to get in there.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

The 2003 did not have an HVAC box that had a factory filter. There is a kit that could be installed on the first generation trucks up to 2002. When Ford did the redesign for the 2003 the new HVAC box the blower motor was relocated and there is no provision in the new system for a filter.
The attached is the filter kit instruction, for it you remove the trim panel under the glove box and the blower motor is there. The filter is located next to it.
On the 2003 the blower motor is hidden behind the passenger side kick panel trim cover.
If you have blower noise it is likely that something fell into the system.

Thanks a lot Steve,
I have got the blower out yesterday after a good struggle getting it out. When I looked there was nothing should not be there, clean and clear from any strange objects. But when I move the fan by hand, it was turning freely, but with a little sounds, I believe was not a smooth bearing sound. It could be the reason. which I need to replace the hole blower as ASEMASTER6371 suggested on my question about that.

I appreciate your time and help.

Yeah, the blower should turn smooth and quiet. If it is noisy it is likely from dust/moisture getting to the bearings. I have taken them apart and lubricated them before, but that is not something I recommend as some are not really "user friendly" to work on.
Glad to hear you have it well in hand. Thank you for using 2CarPros.com.

I cannot locate an answer online to this problem, some say it does not have it some claim that there is a location that has an inch slot with two plastic hex shape nut but it could not remove it without tearing. The cabin filter was an option in these vehicles. If your vehicle has it, the filter will be located on the passenger side under the dash. Below you will find a guide for replacing the filter as well as a diagram of the location

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-change-an-air-cabin-filter

A cabin air filter is available as a dealer-installed accessory for the air distribution system of this vehicle. Instructions for installing and servicing the cabin air filter are included with the filter when purchased

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Hey JACK4389,

From what i can see there is no cabin air filter fitted to your vehicle.

I would call a Ford main dealer, they will quickly be able to tell you from your VIN whether there is one fitted as standard to your vehicle.
