2002 Ford Expedition Cruise Control INOP

In May of last year (2006) I took my 2002 Ford Expedition Eddie Buaer 4WD 5.4l V8 60,000 miles to my local Ford dealer to have the recall work done on the cruise control. It quit working about two weeks ago. I have checked all the fuses and the inline fuse they installed and even replaced them just to be sure as they looked good, but this had no effect. Any ideas what could be wrong and how difficult this would be to fix?

The cruise will not come on at all. Normally there is a green 'Criuse' light that comes on above the speedometer when it is powered on, but pressing the on button has no effect and like I said in the previous posts I have changed all the fuses going to the speed control and the inline fuse installed via the recall and still no power... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the cruise in the steering wheel or the turn signal lever? The contacts for the steering wheel type go out on occasion

The controls are in the steering wheel.

Your relay may not be firing. I would check the relay and make sure it is still good.

Also check the cut off switch, some ar on the master cylinder some ar on the brake pedal...I know ford recalled these because of the danger of fires...if you can't figure it out go back to ford and TELL the they need to fix it right!

Well I took it to a local mechanic, and here is what I found out. The deactivation switch had gone out, and once they replaced it everything worked fine. I probably paid more than if I would have done it myself, but it was way cheaper than taking it back to the ford house. They wanted $100 just to diagnose the problem. I paid that for the whole fix (diagnosis, parts, and labor) at a local mechanic.

You guys were correct though it is on the bottom of the master cynlinder and all Ford did in the recall is put a inline fuse that will blow between the brake pedal and the deactivation switch if it gets to hot.
