First, you don't have a heater control valve. In the vehicle is a blend door that determines if you get heat or AC. It is located near the heater core under the dash. This guide can help

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-heater-not-working

and this video

https://youtu.be/SNRb6pSwYuU

However, I need you to check something. With the engine running, hot, and the heater on high, feel both heater core hoses. Both should be hot.

Let me know what you find.

i have a 2000 ford expedition that has had no heat for the last two years. i tried thermostats
and flushed and flushed the system again and again.flushed the heater core again and again.....no heat. changed the waterpump too. no heat. flushed theheater core . no heat. and yes at operating tempature both heater hoses were hot. but no heat.so i said to myself what i have been deading heater core? yes i changed the heater core. and guess what?? heat like you would not believe!!!!!i took the old heater core and sawed open the tanksand it was pluged solid with sludge.turned out only two runs were open.with fluid being lazy it took the path of least resistance and thats what was keeping my heater hoses hot having me think there was good circulation.so for all you outher guys driving igloos on wheels be ware of the heater core when all elce fails........warning this is not a small job!!! aprox 11hrs. i am a licenced tech and its quite a job. the whole dash has to come off clear to the firewall in order to get heater core acess. hope i have been some help brian..

Is the fan working? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? THe vent doors that change the system from heat to AC are actuated by vacuum. Check for hoses that are disconnected or damaged under the dash. WIth the engine running, you may hear a hissing sound.

I have a 2000 Ford Expedition that the heat does not work. The air works great but when you turn the heater on, it seems as though the air is still on-there is no change in the temp of the air coming through the vents. What could cause this to happen?

The air-mix and venting systems seems to be faulty or stuck and not allowing the proper air delivery. You would need to check the actuator movements etc. Is this an automatic or manual HVAC system?

The blend doors are vacuum operated so I would suggest starting by checking the vacuum hoses for leaks.

it is a blend door which is under the heater towards passenger side a few ducts have to be removed to get to it but pull your hvac fuse with key on first for 60 seconds then reinstall see if that cures it sometimes they reset. if you replace it and have rear air that duct has to be pulled back as well as other see pics

Disconnect the Coil On Plug (COP) electrical connectors. Remove the COP bolt and Remove the COP. Remove any foreign debris from the spark plug wells with compressed air. Remove the spark plugs. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten to specification 7-14 ft lbs . make absolutely sure to do on a COLD engine and use anti seize on replacement plugs.

One day my heater works fine, the next day...not so good. I have the digital gage to set the temperature I can set it to the highest temp and it only feels like "luke warm" air. The thing that confuses me is my heat works fine in the back rows?? All the blowers are working, but I do notice my windshield fogging up more than usual? Any help would be appreciated Thanks

?? I feel like I always get ripped off when I take it to a shop. Could you estimate what this might cost, or what needs repairing? All they tell me is its my heater core and it will over a $1000. Once again, any help is appreciated.

If there's a problem with the heater core it will affect the back one- Check the radiator makes sure its filled with coolant-also see below its really hard to estimate the costs for such repairs it varies with locations-Good Luck

The engine seems to be working just fine. There aren't any foreign noises, and the operating temp. approaches at a moderat time.

Hi:
When the engine first hits normal operating temp and the heater is still cool, feel both heater core hoses. They should both be hot. If they are, there seems to be a problem with the blend door. If one is hot and the other cool, flush the heater core.

Let me know what you find.

Make sure the coolant is full. Make sure the engine is running at a normal operating temp. Make sure the heater core hoses (both) are hot when the engine is hot, running, and the heater is on. Make sure the blend air door is working.

The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally.

Ok, I need you to check a couple things so I can identify where the problem.

First, with the engine running, hot, and the heater on hi, feel both heater core hoses. Both should be hot. LEt me know what you find.

Second, is the engine running at a normal operating temp (not too cold)?

2000 Ford Expedition XLT inner cab heater does not put out hot air. The engine coolant system is functioning correctly, engine coolant circulation and engine thermostat are good.

What simple issues should I check and correct first prior to assuming that the inner-cab heater core is fualty?

check to see if your heater control valve is getting vacuum. it's pointed out in pic. if not check for a vacuum leak starting at engine. If it gets vacuum with heat on then the valve is bad and needs replacing.

The heater in the front only gets warm and the rear heater stays cold. The thermostat is operating correctly and the vehicle maintains a good steady operating temperature. The front heater core was replaced 2 years ago.

Feel the upper radiator hose when the engine is warmed up. It should be too hot to hold onto for very long. If it is not, suspect the thermostat. Dash gauges are notoriously inaccurate so you can't go by that to determine if the thermostat is opening at the right temperature. All dash gauges are good for is for YOU to notice when something is out-of-the-ordinary. To know the exact coolant temperature you need to connect a scanner to view live data and look at what the Engine Computer's temperature sensor is showing.

If the radiator hose is hot, feel the heater hoses. If they are not as hot, look for an inoperative water control valve or some other restriction in one of those hoses. A heater core shouldn't be corroded after 12 years unless the coolant wasn't replaced regularly. Was yours replaced because it was plugged? If so, there was likely some casting sand stuck in the engine block and more of that is breaking loose. That could cause a new heater core to become blocked, but most of the time that can be dislodged and cleaned out by running water from a garden hose through it.
