Heater problem
2000 Ford Expedition V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

heater blows cool unless i bring rpms up then its warm. upper rad hose is hot, lower is cool, rad is cool, and air from fan is cool. heater hose going in to core is hot hose coming out is cooler. if i put fender cover in front of rad the water gets hot but heater still blows cool. the engine never heats up even with cover over rad. i flushed heater core and checked thermostat. doesnt seem as though water is flowing into the fill bottle. gauge stays at half temp

What you described sounds like two different problems. First, I realize that you checked the thermostat, but it sounds like it is staying open too far for too long. Thus, the engine never warms up. Does the temp gauge in the car ever get to normal operating temp?

Second, when you rev the engine you mentioned you get more heat. That usually is an indicator that the coolant level is low.

I would suggest replacing the thermostat first. And second, with the engine hot, running, and the heater on, feel both heater core hoses to see if both are hot. If both are hot, then the core isn't plugged and chances are there is a problem with the blender door. It determines where the air flow goes, past the heater core, or the ac. If it isn't working properly, you won't get one or the other.

Let me know what you find.
