is there a way to repair a spark plug that has a cross-thread bolt without taking it out at the head. if not about how much would it costs if it does have to be taken out at the head?

It is possible to fix it without removing the head if it is one the front 4 cyls. I do not recommend fixing these heads though. I'm assuming the engine is either the 4.6 or 5.4 modular engine. These engine are infamous for blowing plugs out of the heads, and with a repaired plug hole you are upping the chance of this happening. I recommend replacing the head with a re manufactured one.

Thanks for the info, but I got my problem solved about two weeks ago. I don't know where the mechanic got the idea that the spark plug was or hole was stripped. it was just stuck and needed a little time and patience. I got in touch with a reliable "shadetree". He took out the #4 sparkplug and replaced that coil and the # 2 coil which he discovered was also going bad. It was a for hr job and he charged me $90.
