Electrical problem
2000 Ford Excursion Four Wheel Drive Automatic 187000 miles

I rear brake lights and blinkers are not working. I have tried to find the fuses for these to check them and cant find them. The bulbs are new. The back up lights do work. What can I do and where to I find the fuse for the flasher and the brakes and blinkers

Central junction box ; Fuse number 6 -- 15Amp is for flasher relay.
Central junction box; Fuse number 13 -- 20Amp is for stoplamps

I tried the fuse's and they are both ok. Any other suggestions?

Is it both rear taillamps or just one side effected ?

It started out on one side and then came back and then both sides went out.

Ok, is power getting to bulb housing? Must be a ground wire loose somewhere, I would suspect at the taillamps themselves because the brake lights run through the brake light switch and the signals run through a flasher relay so they are not on same circuit.

where would you start to look for the ground wire that could be loose. I pulled the housing off the rear of the car and didn't see anything loose there.

I have looked over your vehicle's wiring diagram for the brake lamp circuit. These two circuits actually DO both get power from the multi-function (turn signal) switch. If the wiring is indeed good at both housings then I would suspect faulty switch.

If the switch is faulty wouldn't it effect the front blinkers also. They are both working.

From the wiring diagram, only the rear will be effected by a faulty multi-function switch.

where is this switch located?

Shoud be on the steering column. It is the switch used to operate the turn signals and high beams.
