Did they say what would cause the problem? Was it the 4wd actuator?

It sounds like they feel the 4wd actuator is bad. That is the motor that shifts the transfer case when you turn the switch to 4wd. Is it possible for you to call and ask them why they said that? If they would tell you, I could better assist you rather than just guessing as to what they ment.

Let me know.

Isn't that typical. One would think they would keep records of the work they have done on computer. If I had to guess, at this point, I would bet it has to do with the actuator (the electric motor on the transfer case that changes it from 2wd to 4wd to...) If that is the case, it is an easy fix. The motor is a little expensive, but it is nothing more than removing and replacing a part under the truck. If you decide to try the 4wd and it doesn't come back out, all you need to do is check to see if there is power to the actuator. IF there is and it won't shift, chances are the motor is bad.

Let me know if you have other questions.
