I have a '98 Ford Escort with 105,000 miles. When I'm driving everything is fine but when the weather is warm. If I'm idle for too long (stuck in traffic or catch a lot of red lights) the engine starts to run hot to the point where I'm afraid I'll overheat. Once I start driving again it cools back down. Is it the water pump, thermostat, radiator, or something else?

Is the fan kicking on as usual??? Normal to heat up in hot weather and heavy traffic, unless the a\c is on in which case the fan should also be on..

It may be the fan because before the temperature starts to rise the air coming from the A/C gets noticiably warmer....
