1998 Ford Escort Sun roof does not close completely

Hi,
Sun roof opens completely and closes only partially.
A local mechanic asked to replace the complete assembly at a steep price.

Is there any way to force the roof to shut down? I don't need to sun roof, so don't have to open it again.

all sunroofs have a manual closing device.look for it ,it can be a turning device that u can use a screw driver or another tipe of tool.its gotta be round that area for sure.or call a dealer or autoparts store they may help u find it location of manual closing device.weird way of explaining i know lol good luck
