I installed a new battery in my 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 improperly...I attached the negative to the positive and the positive to the negative. The 100 AMP Main Fuse blew and I replaced it. The car started after the fuse replacement. The "Room" fuse blew and after replacing the 15 AMP fuse, the stereo worked again. The next morning, the car would not start and had to be jump started. I took the car to AutoZone and the replaced the new battery with another new battery and now the battery light comes on. What additional damage could I have caused by hooking the cables up backwards? Any information would be great as my daughter drives this car and I do not want her to get stranded.

You need to have the alternator output checked out-the IVR is not controlling the field winding therefore its overcharging the battery and battery can explode-
