I recently having problems with my 1997 ford escort. I recently replaced the battery, because the battery of the car was completely dead. Once I had that done I had the electrical checked at an AutoZone store, just to make sure that the system was doing its job. When they put the load on the system the car stopped running. At that time I had a feeling it was the alternator. They checked the wirings to make sure they were OK and not short circuiting. They suggested that the alternator wasn't putting out and it may have to be replaced. I use to do my own work on my own cars, especially these type of problems, but now I don't have the time or patiences. The question is I will be bringing the car to a service garage. I don't want to be overcharged or taken advantage, so what price range will I be looking at to get this problem resolved.
