Engine Performance problem
1997 Ford Escort Automatic 67,000 miles

I have found recently that my car will shake violently when i get close to 80mph. The wheel shakes and it vibrates my mirrors. I have no idea whats wrong but I can't afford to take it to a mechanic unless it something very serious. Please help!

Check your tires for any wear tear especially on tires sides. i had same problem of shaking and felt like steering wheel slipping from my hands.
Then i found that it needs alignment and replacement of tires as they were torn.
