I need to replace my speed sensor. Can you tell me how I know which sensor to purchase without removing the old one first? Thank you.

Hello
Speed Control Components, Speed Sensor F1KY9E731BA 83.71
The Vehicle Speed Sensor is located at the lower rear of the transaxle.
Your vehicle is equipped with both a turbine speed sensor and a vehicle speed sensor. The turbine speed sensor is located on top of the transaxle (see figure 1) and the vehicle speed sensor is located on the lower rear of the transaxle (see figure 1)
FIGURE 1
Use a meter to test the sensors for correct power.
Hope this helps...

I have a factory manual but it does not tell me where the 2 wires that connect to the vehicle speed sensor go to?
The unit failed and upon trying to remove it broke apart and what is left is the OEM Aluminum section that is in the trany.
The sensor base is almost flush with the top of the trany and will not come out.
The tach is still functional.
The speed sensor for this vehicle has a mechanical cable that connects to the the speedo in the dash and also has a 2 wire connector.
Where does this 2 wire connector go?
Is this an ECM signal?
is it possible to tap into the tach signal and add a digital speedo so I can tell vehicle speed?
But what about the 2 wire connector?
The car has a lot of value left in it.
Please advise.

Spray some lube around the broken fitting, it is held in with an "O"ring try gripping it if there is a spot left to grab and try twisting back and forth, with out seeing it it is a bit hard to judge best option for you.
