My 17 year old was told by a mechanic the his power steering hoses are leaking. He had no leaks before they replaced his water pump. Now it leaves about a 4 inch dropping on the driveway. I am out of town and he wants to replace them himself. According to the parts house, it looks like there are 3 hoses? 2 with clamps, 1 with fittings. Should I let my son do it? Mechanic wants $125.00 for the hoses and $75.00 labor. Parts house list Fitting hose for $45.00 and other 2 for about $15.00 each.

That depends on how much experience he has with mechanics.

You may be saving $125, but if it is done wrong then you will be out a lot more than that for additional repairs.
