For about two weeks, my car has been dying when I sit idle. Sometimes after a long time, like waiting on a train; sometimes it doesn't take long, like starting it up and putting it in reverse, then dying. We've had weather in the 90s for a week and we've had weather in the 50s for a week, so I don't think it matters what the weather is. What does it sound like is wrong? Is this something common with escorts of this year, or is it a more general automobile problem? Thanks.

I've had two Escorts and when mine did this the first thing I did was to clean the throttle body & air/idle bypass valve
