1993 Ford Escort Gas leak, won't start

it's only leaking when you are trying to start it cause the fuel pump doesn't run when it's just sitting there.

have a helper turn the key while you are looking for the fuel leak under the hood.

So what your saying is it could be the fuel pump or a gas line??

The problem is the gas line in the engine compartment. Have someone crank the engine while you look for the leak.
For safety have an extinguisher closeby in case of fire you are dealing with a flamable liquid.
