Do you have to move the starter to replace the clutch throw out and pressure plate? I got stuck on 77 in Wewst Virginia. After 2 days they said my starter was no good also. There had been no problem earlier. Mechanic said I had to have pushed the gcar to start it all the way from florida

I looked at a procedure for your car and it doesn't say to remove the starter. But, the starter is mounted next to the flywheel and the pressure plate is mounted to the flywheel. They may have moved the starter for clearance even though the procedure doesn't say it. That is strange, your starter going bad when they're working by it. It could be a coincidence or they may have damaged it.
