throw out bearing

I have a 2003 ford escape manual transmission with 86,000 miles sounds like broken glass floating around in the engine but only when car is in gear and clutch pushed in. Now starting to jump when in gear at stop with clutch in. Other day would not go into first or second gear. Today fine except broken glass noise
