I am building a an off-road rally rig out of a 2008 Escape. I have completed the suspension and would like to place 31" A/T's on it. I am unclear if the 31" tires will damage or place too much stress on the engine and tranny with the stock gear ratio:
First Gear Ratio (:1)2.89Second Gear Ratio (:1)1.57Third Gear Ratio (:1)1.00Fourth Gear Ratio (:1)0.70Fifth Gear Ratio (:1) Sixth Gear Ratio (:1) Reverse Ratio (:1)2.31Clutch Size (in) Final Drive Axle Ratio (:1)2.93Transfer Case Gear Ratio (:1), High1.0Transfer Case Gear Ratio (:1), Thnaks
I replaced the rear shock brackets and spaces with Willys brackets and spacers, this allowed me to place a set of Rancho RS 9000 for the rear suspension. I had a custom set of Carrera struts made that meet the valving specs of the Rancho 5000 for the front suspension. Now it's all about what is the largest tire without depleting power and creating too much power train stress.
thanks in advance,
