Good morning,

The range sensor tells the PCM which gear you have selected for driving. No, it does not have anything to do with the issue.

I would start by changing the fluid and filter. The dirty fluid will cause this issue as it will inhibit valve movement in the valve body.

Can it be the reason of the problem?

Okay, then it has an internal failure in the transmission.

You will need either a rebuilt unit or a used unit installed.
