My battery keeps dying because when I turn off my car and remove key, the odometer and radio/clock stay on. I have just had alternater replaced. Was told it was a GEM module, replaced that, problem still there. was told the GEM module needed to be reflashed. Had it reflashed and problem still persists. The radio is the original factory radio. I have brought my car to 3 mechanics, one being a ford dealership and nobody has an answer. I can't afford to keep doing things to the car that "might work". Please help.

Am having a similar problem with 01 Escape, new battery drained if car not driven everyday; mechanic diagnosis to replace GEM after checking amperage, dealer said it was fine. Didn't have the problem after diagnosis (must have disconnected/connected somthing)but this morning the radio was blaring and the key wasn't in the ignition. Didn't think that was possible Very strange.

Same issue on a 2001 Ford Escape, looking for any updates you might have had?

My vehicle is at a trusted shop right now, the tech formerly built Fords at the plant and focused on electrical work. Hopefully he'll come up with something.

I had the same problem. I found that water was leaking down the inside of the windshield post on the drivers side. The water was in the wire connectors next to the fuse box. Disconnected, blew it out to dry, problem solved. Hope this may help.
