2001 Ford Escape More problems after changing a shifter cab

I changed the shifter cable that runs from the column to a lever on the transmission. After replacing the part the odometer doesn't work, the speedometer doesn't work, the o/d light flashes, after the transmission shifts into o/d and the check engine light is on. The vehicle runs and drives fine and shifts fine. I just have these idiot lights now and ideas.
