1998 Ford E-Series Van V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My used van makes a loud humming noise until I press on the accelerator. (?) Also, what octane gas should I be using? It has 147,000 miles.

Check the idle air control valve, it's bolted to the throttlebody...see if trhat's where the noise is comming from. The gas you use depends on what the sticker inside the gas door says!

Thanks for the suggestion to check the idle air control valve - i have no idea what or where that is, but i'm hoping to find someone who does! :)

There is no info anywhere in or on the van about what type of gas to use (high test or regular), so I'm using regular Chevron and also adding more Techron to the gas additionally as well sometimes.
