1997 Ford E-Series Van Brakes vibrate, what to do?

I took in my van into my local tire store to look at the rotors and brakes due to alot of vibration in the front when brakes were applied. They suggested that I replace the capliers and all. My questions:

Should I ever expect to replace the calipers?
(I figured turning the rotors and replacing the pads would be enough - but I do have a >100K miles)

How do you know / test if a caliper is sticking or going bad?

what is their reasoning for replacing the calipers other than to pad the bill. you very well could need calipers if they are frozen or leaking. most of the times new rotors and pads is all you need, most places do not turn rotors anymore due to the fact that pitting is usually the case and you cant turn it down and also the cost of new rotors is so low that its not worth turning. hope this helps
