1994 Ford E-Series Van Freeze plugs

You said you have done some "reschearch' into the issuse of the plugs.

the best way to be sure if your plugs are leaking is that if you pour water in the radiator it will pour or drip onto the ground.


At least that has always been the case with any freeze plugs I ever had to fool with.

IF it drips water out... You will then know where the plugs are at and what you will have to remove to get to them

Most of the time it will involve taking the motor out to do the job right.

If you need more help in telling if you are leaking water out of the plugs is to add a dye like red to the water you pour in the radiator that way you will know if that is the water you poured in that is leaking out.

UNLESS the plug or plugs are completly blown out you engine will most likely not start however if they are just leaking a bit that would NOT keep your motor from starting.

I had a ford TBird that blew out a plug at freeway speed and being a v6 only ran on the clyinders on the oposite side of the blow out.

And on yet another car a straight 6 the motor wanted to start but just would not quite get to doing that.

are you sure it is freeze plugs and not something else?

A blown freeze plug MOST of the time WILL NOT cause oil to be in the crankcase.

IF you have oil in the crankcase.. I would look to a blown head gasket and that seems to me to be more likely youe problem from what you have said here
