1993 Ford E-Series Van check engine light

The check engine light comes after first starting to drive off for a mile or 2 when the engine is cold. Then after some 5 miles of driving it will go off and stay off, even when stopping for a break and then starting up again. It then wont come on for the rest of the drive that day.
This is a motorhome based on a Ford cutaway van chassis.
Before this trip (1500 mile) I had this 21' RV serviced and filters changed except for the small air filter for the pvc valve (?) because they did not have the exact replacement. Could this cause that?
