I have intermitent oil pressure. The pump was replaced last fall, and otherwise the van is in good shape. It is a custom E-250 and even with high milage, doesn't burn oil and get 17mpg.... I drive mostly on open highway, and doen't push it... I use the more expensive Penzoil for high mileage engines, and the presurre has been steady. Before, when I used the lighter weight oil the gauge was slighty and the needle moved quite a bit.... I'm wondering if something is loose....?? and how much of a job does it entail to check this??... the pressure needle now pings the far side of the red when you turn the key on, before the engine starts and stays there??

Check the actual oil pressure with a mechanical gauge-if normal -replace the oil pressure switch
