driver window does not work

hi there i have the same problem with my 94 and took it to the shop and they told me that it is the window regulator bad in side of the regulator is wire cable they are streched out of shape just replay the regulator in ur door u have to make sure u have all the screws out of ur door panel and they make a tool that u use to rem,ove the door panel any auto parts place will know what ur talking about

Even though you still hear the motor running, it could still be the motor. The teeth in the gears are worn out. You just replace it, its not expensive. The tools are the star type you get at an autostore.

Sounds like either the motor is getting tired and will need to be replaced or the regulator is gummed up and will need to be oiled. Check the little wheels at each end of the regulator. If you can lift the window with little effort with the motor detached then it's the motor. If the regulator is stuck when the motor is detached you may be able to just replace the regulator. You can find a motor and regulator assembly on eBay for $25

Thanks for the addition to this site. This post is many years old so that info most likely will not help them but it will help others in the future. You are exactly correct that the motor could still be the issue but more then likely the regulator is getting seized and the motor cannot overcome its when it is pressed on, you are removing enough of the binding that the motor can move it.
