I try to shift car on or off it will not shift?

The solenoid for the shifter get it's power feed from the brake light pedal switch. Use test light to see if there's power on both sides of the switch with pedal depressed. If so, trace wire away from switch for break (inside insultion). Usually pretty close to switch because that's where the wires "bend" all the time...

well, i replaced the ignition switch and the brake switch, now i am down to the selenoid. if anyone knows where to find a picture of the selenoid, or where it is i would be really appreciative.
