I have replace my bank one senor 2 o2 sensor 3 times with a bosch 15717 from autozone and yet and still these two codes keep popping up. All connections to the o2 sensor seem fine and there is no indication of a slitted wire from plain eyesight under the vehicle. I was wondering if there was a fuse I could check or what else I should do. Thanks.

does code go away after they replaced every tiem? how long does it stay off for?

Try manually clearing the code and see if it goes off and does not come back on. if not there is a issue with the harness and well have to do soem pin to pin testing and wiring testing to see whats going on.

I usually disconnect the battery for a while and then reconnect it to get rid of the code. I have drivin back home from college which is 120+ miles and the light will stay off for the entire time that I am on the highway, but when I exit to go home and get into city driving, it comes back on for the same reason. I just don't understand it.

weather conditions. temperatures. alot of things change due to thos factors. and some can completely screw up the vehicle especially when dealing with such precise measurements as found in a o2 sensor

Hello, I have been having a problem with po136 and po141 codes that keep popping up. I have changed the o2 sensor several times with a bosch 15717 from autozone, but to no avail. I find it strange because i erased the code to drive back home from college, which is 120+ miles away, and drove the entire way with no problem, but as soon as I got off the highway and got into city driving, the light came right back on. I was wondering if there is anything else that I can do. I am told to check the fuse, but am unsure of its location on my vehicle. All connections seem to be fine, but is there a way to clean the connectors just in case? Please, any help would be great.

Hi dmcage1,

Possible causes for the codes are :

1. O2 sensor. There is a possibility the O2 sensors being non OEM is not compatible.

2. The O2 sensor wires are not correctly installed.

3. There is a shorting or open circuit.

4. Exhaust leaks.

I'm not an expert mechanic but as far as I know there is no way to fix a plugged converter... it must be replaced. I did this to my passenger side 1997 crown vic police interceptor and it was a real pain... mainly b/c the studs at the top of the flange (the point where the converter goes up into the engine and bolts on) were completely rusted and the old converter wouldn't come off. There is little space to work in this area, so be careful to not damage anything.

SO, sawsall to cut the bolts off, remove old converter and pipe, drill out snapped stud, put in a new bolt, and the ez part is put the new one on.

BUT FIRST BEFORE ANY OF THIS... try to see if you have uneven exhaust pressure coming out the tailpipe. If one side of the exhaust is pouring out more exhaust than obviously something is wrong. If they're even then it's probably something else. You could buy 2 new O2 sensors and put them in there (lots of $$ and the old ones might be tough to get out)...but scan the computer codes first (go to Autozone, they'll do it) and see if it comes back malfunction in one (or both) of the sensors.

The engine light was on, so I put a ob2 reader on it and said p1401 as a code. So I replaced EGR valve and I reset engine. And light came back on again so I put computer back on said o2 sensor were low voltage. So I replaced all 4 o2 sensors. I reset again this time engine light stays off ran it for 1 hour light was still off. So when I started next time engine light comes back on. I need to smog it but worried about not passing. Can someone please explain why?

Good afternoon,

Can you list all the codes for me?

The 401 code is a bad DPFE sensor. I attached a picture for you and a description.
