I am wondering on an automatic can I get rid of the torque converter and replace it with something else that can be just as good as a manural (geting off the line ect.) but stil being an automatic ??? or do I need a torque converter ??? and IF not needed what can I out inplace ???

THere is nothing you can put in its place. Without it, the transmission won't work.
