i drove this car 3 days ago and have never had any problems .It turns over fine so i sprayed some starting fluid in the intake and it fired.so that means its got firing but not getting gas.and i turned the switch on and i never could hear the fuel pump. so could the pump just go bad just like that?

prob. a fuse or something. check fuse and fuel pump relay. if OK may need to test pump with 12v direct power.

Could be with that mileage. Start by checking the inertia switch if okay check fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay both okay, power the fuel pump direct from the battery if it doesn't come on and ground is good-it went south.

check fuse labeled FUEL PUMP (20 amp) in the engine compartment fuse box. the inertia switch is a safety fuel cut off switch and is located in the trunk, on the left support.

yes have to remove it..you can bench test it. It's not good to run them for more than a second or 2 with no gas because they are actually gas cooled and lubricated. But you can touch power to them briefly to make sure they at least turn.

Sometimes you can resurrect a 'stuck' pump just by whacking fuel tank with a piece of wood (don't hit it hard enough to dent it!!).
