If it is coming from the gaskets on the intake manifold then i suggest you take off the manifold clean the mating surfaces and replace the the gasket.

If it is coming from the manifold itself i suggest replacing the manifold not patching it.

The crown vics had a 4.6L engine that used a plastic intake. The 4.6 had issues all the way up until 2001 with the water crossover tube in the intake splitting out just behind the alternator. Check here for the leak first. It is most likely the intake itself, which will have to be replaced. The updated intake has an aluminum crossover tube integrated into the manifold. Inspect the front portion of the intake and also the engine valley for evidence of leaking. Post back and let us know what you find.

Your problem can be several things, one of them NOT being the plastic intake that flexy5 referred to, as those plastic intakes weren't in production until 96. blackop555 might be correct, but with the mileage you have, I would be more concerned about a blown head gasket as far as the engine area goes. my question is can you smell coolant inside or outside the car? if you smell inside, you probably have a heater core leak. If you can smell in outside around the front of the car, then you radiator could be leaking. If you can smell at the back of the car, you are in trouble, sure sign of blown head gasket or cracked head or block. Other things might be seeping heater or radiator hoses, or the coolant bypass tube underneath the intake.

When the stupidly designed intake manifold cracks where the heater pipe sticks into the plastic here's how to fix it. You will notice the plastic around the heater pipe is connected to some plastic to the front of the car from it. Take a hacksaw blade and cut about a 1/2" groove in that plastic - just enough to get a hose clamp around the plastic circle that holds the pipe. Tighten the clamp and voila! No more leak.
