1994 Ford Crown Victoria Sputtering, backfiring.

My crown vic starts fine--even on cold days. It idles fine. But when I press the gas (even in park) it starts sputtering and even sometimes backfiring. What is the engine type?

Is the Check Engine Light showing?

Symptoms described could be due to any of the following:
1. Throttle Position Sensor.
2. Mass Air Flow sensor
3. Fuel pressurre
4. Spark plugs, cables, ignition coils and distributor cap.
