Electrical problem
1989 Ford Crown Victoria V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

ok I had altormater rebuilt ( new reluctor ) the old reluctor had two post with one small post and one thin wire and one large post two fat wires. the new reluctor has a plug with one thin wire and two fat wires.I was told by the guy that rebuilt the alt. that it did not matter which fat wire went to which fat lead from the plug so i installed the plug. I also had the distributor out replace the control mod. so the timing was not set. I got it all back together and it started right up and I was ready to set the timing when the engine quit running so I try to start it and nothing no click of the starter but I have lights and every thing else. so what can it be?

Hi don farley,

Check the starter solenoid wire connection. If the wire is loose or disconnected, you would not be able to crank the engine.
