My car started shooting white smoke out of the exhaust pipes one night after about a 15 minute drive. I had a remainder of 5 minutes left of my trip. When I got home the car was still shooting the smoke and smelled like gunpowder. Since then, we have started the car 3 times, the last time, it didn't shoot out the smoke. We took it to a nearby mechanic who said he "tested" the head gasket and its not messed up. What else could the problem be?

White smoke is an indication of burnt coolant
Headgasket failure is very common and possible
Coolant system pressure test is needed also check for lose fluids
